ipart dialogue box greyed out

i have created an iassembly that works perfectly.

in the process of creating a second assembly i tried to insert a new ipart. 

in the assembly i select "place component", then select (parent)part from directory, dialogue box comes up titled "place standard ipart". On the bottom of the dialogue there are 3 buttons, New Row, OK, and Cancel. Only the Cancel is active.

i cannot select my part from the list.

i tried selecting from the table, and from the tree. Never does the OK button become active.

i CAN select a single member from the factory, but, that is not what i want. When i create the iassembly i want to be able to replace the components from the part factory table of each component. (as in the working assembly)

What am i doing wrong?

As i said i have already created a working iassembly. what is different about this one?

Hi! I suspect either the part is stored in the library folder or there is something wrong with the iPart factory table. Please share the example here so forum experts can take a look.

@johnsonshiue I'm having this issue as well, though I can at least select the parts from the list. Cancel is the only thing available; New Row and OK are grayed out, and the Help is of not help.

It's something kind of basic here, just modeling up a basic raised garden bed just-because, and to get some more Inventor practice. (I am still new to iMates; Pro-E/Creo is my background, and its copy/paste method for assembled components was quite different.)

Corrugated sheet.ipt has two iPart lengths in it: 8ft and 12ft. When I do Place Component of the sheet, I get the attached screenshot.

(The other possibility is that I am absolutely not grasping how iMates function, despite multiple Youtube videos on it.)

All I can do is click in the workspace, and it just plops the sheet on the front face of the garden outline.

Hi! I think I know what you are talking about. The Ok button is only enabled when the member file has not been generated yet. Otherwise, you simply click on the graphics window to place an instance of the iPart member. "Dismiss" button closes the dialog.

Ok, so it looks like this is expected behavior then. 🙂
