Invetor/AutoCAD Display Issues - Model Space Blacked Out

Model space seems to be blacked out and not showing my models after opening a project. This issue seems to occur on my laptop but not on my monitor at work. Is this an issue with my display/graphics settings? Or within the software?

More than likely a graphics issue..

In Inventor go to tools..application options..hardware tab and check the box for "use software graphics" THEN RESTART INVENTOR..

Did the problem go away?

If so that indicates an issue with your graphics card/driver and you should likely update your graphics card driver to the latest version from the card manufacturers site.

After doing that then uncheck that "use software graphics" checkbox and restart Inventor again..

That checkbox will likely slow down the performance of Inventor so it should be used as a diagnostic tool only if possible.

It may also help to post your graphics card type and driver version and ensure it meets the minimum system requirements for Inventor.

Hi thank you for the quick reply!

Yes, this fixed the issue, but Inventor is performing slow like you stated.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Driver Version: 21.21.13.7654 - windows claims this is the latest driver

I'm not sure why it would work so well on my monitor and not the laptop screen itself.

Also, I'm currently using Inventor 2022. Inventor 2020 worked on my laptop last week, but now I'm having the same issue with 2020.

Hi! On top of my head, there are two logical reasons. First, it is graphics related as indicated by Brian. It is likely the cause, since both Inventor and AutoCAD behave the same here. Try using Conservative mode (Tools -> Hardware) in Inventor and see if it helps. Make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and graphics driver is updated.

Your system need to meet the minimum system requirement.

The other possible cause is that the components are very far away from origin. Go to Inventor browser. Right-click on a component -> Find in Window. Does it appear?

Many thanks!
