Inventor to Revit - Mickey Mouse ears.... ?

Hi,

I'm not an Inventor Expert, I've just installed it because we are stuck during export of a part...

I've followed this tutorial : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue7-WtyiUtI

When I try to export this from Inventor :

I get this in Revit, which is not so bad, as we did not get any geometry before 🙂

Do you know where these "ears" could come from ?

I'm wondering if exporting Inventor model to revit is the best way to build BIM families....

Thanks for your help !!

Hi! I believe there is some translation error. It is unclear where the exact problem happened (Inventor or Revit). Usually, it has something to do with non-manifold geometry (an edge shared by more than two faces).

Here are a few easy workarounds you can try.

1) Use one of the Origin plane (symmetry plane) to split the faces.

2) Use Delete Face command to see if there is bad geometry left inside the body. Use Delete Face command to delete it. Then delete the first Delete Face feature.

Please attach the file here if you need further help.

Many thanks!

Thanks @johnsonshiue !

I've deleted the part which produced the error.

Then I've created a 2D circle and extruded it to re-created the deleted part.

I still have a minor issue when I export it to REVIT, the material !

I've tried to modify the extrusion material (as part, as feature...), always the same result...

Thanks for your help...

(Sorry I can't share the model as it's internal files...)

I've tried to change the material of all parts but I've always a difference of color into REVIT...

Here I've try to set all to Aluminium but my extrusion is visible...

It seems the material of the "surface" parts is not exported but the extrusion is....

Could you help please ? I do not know Inventor... Thanks by advance !

Hi I suspect one of the Delete Face features turns the solid body into a surface body. Is it necessary? A surface body is more like a reference. As a result, it does not carry any material except appearance.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Many thanks!
