Inventor sheet number issue.

Good day,

One of my colleagues working on the same project as I am, encountered a peculiar problem this morning. He is busy with a drawing (idw) detailing some steelwork. The steelwork is a right and left hand assembly. He detailed the one side already, and created 11 sheets in the drawing. Then to create the other side, he basically saved it as the new drawing, and using "Replace Model Reference" updated the views to reflect the opposite assembly. Everything went well until he had to create an extra sheet to reflect some additional detail.

So right click and selected "New Sheet" expecting the sheet to be added to the bottom of the list with the number 12 next to it to indicate its place as the 12th sheet in the drawing. What surprised us was that the numbering started at 1 again. Doing it again, created another sheet, this time as another sheet 10. See the screenshots included. The problem is that you cannot delete these errant sheets. If you drag them up the hierarchy, their numbers change, but now the bottom sheets take over the incorrect numbering.

Creating a new drawing, and adding sheets did not recreate the problem.

Opening the same drawing on another pc, same issue. So it is related to the specific drawing, and not to a new drawing or the specific workstation.

We fixed the drawing by creating a new drawing and copying the sheets over to the new one, one at a time. No issue with the new drawing.

We are working on Inventor 2021 latest updates installed, Vault Pro 2021, Win 10 Pro.

Anyone ever came across this? Any ideas as to what can cause this?

Regards

Hi @KobusE

I see the issue on the images. I dont believe we have seen this one. Could you check to see if you have any iLogic rule which is modifying the sheet label post sheet creation? If so, can you try disabling it and see if it works?

Typically this shouldnt happen and new sheets should honor numbering. You could also "edit sheet" and exclude it from numbering but that doesnt seem to be the case here. It's as though the numbering is being reset.

If you can attach your problematic drawing - we can try to see whats going on.

Thanks

@sundars

Thanks for the reply.

We checked, there are no iLogic rules in the template. We have asked management now for permission to send you the idw plus the 3D models so you can check if you can replicate the issue. If they give us permission, I will contact you. We would prefer to do the transfer of files through a secure setup and not here on the forum if possible.

You can contact me via my profile details.

Hi @KobusE

I sent you a private message. So far, I have not been able to reproduce the issue and the code logic is pretty straightforward in terms of the renumbering of sheets, so go ahead and send me your corrupt drawing and I can investigate it to see whats going on.

Thanks
