Inventor Sheet Metal Chequered Plate Appearance To Single Face Only

Hi I give a chequered plate appearance to sheet metal, it appeared both sides. But I need to apply only top surface. How I can do that ?

When you choose the appearance without having anything selected, it changes appearance for the whole part. 

What you want to do, is to left click the face. Then right click -> Properties -> Appearance.

... or select the face(s), then select the appearance you want from the Appearance drop-down.  No need to open the Properties box unless you want to change other properties as well.
