Inventor's thumbnail in Windows Explorer

I’m facing a problem with thumbnails from Autodesk Inventor’s files in Windows Explorer.
Using OPEN command within Autodesk Inventor the thumbnails works fine and displays the 3D model image, but if I choose to display thumbnails in an Windows Explorer folder just appear the Autodesk Inventor's icons.
I’ve tried to apply that procedure but no success: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/pictures-do-not-display-as-thumb...
Do you know what could be done to solve this case?

Can you try this out,

  1. Go to the Windows Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab.
  2. Make sure the "Always show icons, never thumbnails" check box is not selected.

Hi Joao,

Welcome to the Inventor forum!

It is possible that Inventor thumbnails and icons are not correctly registered in Windows.

Try to re-associate Inventor files from Control Panel > Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program.

Or, try the following steps to register thumbnails and icons correctly in Windows environment:

  1. Open a command promt as Administrator (you need Admin rights)
  2. Start this command in command prompt >>regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2017\Bin\thview.dll"<< *
  3. Restart your machine
