Inventor Nesting Utility Crashing

Hi all,

I'm just having a play around with the Inventor Nesting Utility for the first time.  I'm finding that whenever I attempt to create a nest on a complete assembly (approx. 20 parts), Inventor crashes.  Has anybody else experienced this?  My assembly contains a few iParts which I suspect might create difficulties.

I've tried on some smaller assemblies.  Sometimes nothing happens when I hit the 'Start Extract' button.

Am I doing something wrong or is this Add-In a tad buggy?

Thanks

@waynehelley . I'm sorry to hear the software crashing. Could you please attach your datasets here so we can do further investigation. Thanks!

I experience this frequently also.

The attached part file crashes any inest files which try to extract it.

@jmfowler1996 ,

Thanks for providing ipt file. I just attempted to replicate the crash you are experiencing but was able to successfully extract and nest the ipt source. I tried this two different ways:

1. Opened the .ipt file and created new .inest through context menu.

2. Opened a blank .inest document and added the .ipt file via sources selection

FYI - I am using Update 2019.3 build version 3.3.176. Please see image below:

Hi @waynehelley,

As we talked in the direct message, I was not able to download all of your files via the link you shared (log said the download file number is limited to 200). With the limited files that had been downloaded, I cannot replicate the crash issue. So could you please upload those files to this link?

Hi @jmfowler1996 ,

I cannot replicate the crash either. Could you please share more info about your environment?

  1. Your Nesing Utility build version?
  2. Your Inventor build version?
  3. Your build language?
  4. Your windows system language?

Thanks,

Forrest
