Inventor file on c-drive

Dear,

Every time I open Autodesk Inventor Professional 2019, the program creates a folder in my documents on my c-drive called: Inventor.

Do you perhaps know how I move the location of that folder to somewhere else because it keeps coming back to my c-drive ...

Thanks in advance!

Are you using the Vault? It creates a folder on the C drive as a default location when drawings are checked out. You can change that check-out location through Vault's preferences. Hope this helps!

Hi Ward,

The behavior should be related to the project setting. Go to Get Started -> Project -> look at the settings in the dialog. Is there one set to "C:\Inventor\"?

Many thanks!

If you don't know what Vault is, you're probably not using it. It's a handy database management and control program that Autodesk makes. It's probably the setting that Johnson is suggesting though. If you're really new to Inventor, then you'll want to look into projects if you don't know about them, because they are invaluable.

Hello,

sorry it took so long to get back to you. Are you running the vault by yourself, or are you working for someone that oversees it? When Vault is set up, it needs a default location to store checked-out drawings on your local machine -- most people just set it up as a folder on the C drive. If you're in control of the vault, you should find an option in settings that will let you change the default check-out location to something else you prefer.

Hope this helps!

If you are using Vault and want to change the working folder you can follow the directions here in the link below..

HOWEVER..

I'd question why you want to move it and to where

I'm also wondering how you actually use Vault but didn't initially know you are even using it..
