Inventor: export to autocad dwg

Hello

How do I change the view orientation when I export a part to Autocad dwg format. Inventor seems to chhose a view at random which is not the view I need.

Thank You.

Can you attach example *.ipt file and example resulting *.dwg file?

Hi

Here are the files.

The part does not look manufacturable to me (at reasonable cost).

It is not uniform thickness and no bends.

How will it be manufactured?

When I open the two files they use exactly the same Cartesian Coordinate system.

Ignoring the view names on the View Cube - model the parts relative to the X,Y,Z world coordinates that you desire.

(or rotate the part in whatever CAD program you use).

If you want the View Cube names to match up - you could rotate the part either in AutoCAD or in Inventor.

Another option would be to edit the initial sketch and rotate the sketch geometry. This would "properly" fix the problem.

It isn't actually random at all.

As JDMather mentioned, the coordinate systems are the same between the Inventor version of the file and the AutoCAD DWG export.  The difference is that in Inventor, the XY plane is designated as the Front view, while in AutoCAD it is designated as the Top view.  This creates the impression that everything is rotated 90 degrees when exported.  This also occurs when importing AutoCAD geometry into Inventor (though in the opposite direction).

As far as I know, there is no way to actually avoid this happening.  I always just rotate the geometry in the AutoCAD export to get the desired orientation.
