Hi all 

I am working on a assembly say X in which I place  some sub assemblies like 40 sub assemblies 

Now I want bill of materials of only 15 sub-assemblies in drawing  but i like to show assembly x as ref in drawing view is it possible ??

Can we achieve those with model state  by keeping them refrence in bom structure ??

Will this effect the bill of materials of main assembly x which I create in other drawing file

Hi @vishnuteja14.  What you are asking about sounds complicated, but BOM quantities can be controlled by either suppression (which is recorded by model states), or by BOM structure settings (which are also recorded by model states) (or both suppression and BOM structure settings).  So, you can include things in a drawing view by not having them suppressed, but if you do not want them in the BOM, just set their BOM structure to something like reference, instead of normal.  BOM structure settings can be set at the source model document level, or at the assembly component level.  Setting this at the assembly component level sounds to me like what you would want to do in this case, if you plan on using the same exact assembly elsewhere, but with different BOM structure settings.  When you set a specific assembly component to a specific BOM structure level, that setting decision / change will be recorded by [the active model state, if in 'edit member scope'; or by all model states, if in 'edit factory scope] in the parent assembly of that assembly component.

Hi! I could be wrong. Please bear with me if I misunderstood the requirements. This can be done in two ways. Yes, Model States may help. In the top-level assembly or which level that hosts the subassembly, create a new Model State -> set the subassembly's instance BOM structure to Reference.

Or, you will need to save the assembly as a new assembly -> set the subassembly's instance BOM structure to Reference.

The change will happen only within the hosting assembly, not making the change elsewhere.
