Inventor crashing or unresponsive

I am having issues with one of my models. sometimes it will crash all of inventor once I click save and other time when i open it the model will load in but the model tree will not and i cannot edit model or close assembly. it does not say not responding in the title bar but i have to end task to close. it has been a pretty constantly occurring issue. any help would be appreciated

Hello @Anonymous,

 

I had this problem when a junior designer overwrote an ipt file.  The file was trying to replace the reference automatically however caused the same issues you are running into.

 

What I did to find the part which caused the problem was to open the file with all parts suppressed.  Then unsuppressed each file.  Once inventor crashed I knew which file was causing the issue.

 

Not sure if this is the case for you but it may be worth a try.

Are you using Projects (*.ipj) or are you using Vault?

Hi! Many thanks for sending the crash reports! I am able to locate the reports. I took a quick look. It seemed that Inventor crashed when attempting to save an assembly and its reference files. It looks repeatable. Please try the followings.

1) Make sure all critical Windows updates are installed.

2) Update graphics driver.

3) Close all files and go to Tools -> App Options -> Assembly -> uncheck "Enable Express mode."

4) Open the assembly -> Manage -> Rebuild All.

5) Perform the steps leading to the crash. Does it work better now?

 

Please share the Inventor files with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the behavior better.
