Inventor Crashes when I drag a part into an assembly

Hi guys,

I try to copy/paste parts into an assembly and Inventor crashes every time. I also try to left-click and drag it from the design tree on the left of the screen and it also crashes. Any ideas?

Yes,  what version are you running and are you up to date with all of your SP's ?

Inventor Professional 2020 and I'm not sure what you mean by SP's?

Since you are using 2020, I am on build 168.

Not seeing this issue at all.

While you should be able to do what you are describing about copy/paste and dragging parts in, what happens if you insert them through the normal add components from the assembly tab?

Inventor 2020 now crashes when I "alt-drag" a part in an assembly but not when I right click copy it or ctrl-c copy the part. I noticed all the keyboard shortcuts are highlighted in the upper menu when I hold down the alt key and it locks up. This problem began after my computer had a Nvidia p4000 Quadro video card upgrade. all my inventor and video driver settings are at default.  Would there be a conflict with a hardware/software conflict when the alt key is held down with certain video cards drivers?

Hi! The behavior does not sound right. You mentioned that it happened after you upgrade the graphics driver? Is it the same assembly or a different one? Have you install 2020.1 update? Please make sure all Windows critical updates are installed.

Hi! Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed. Graphics driver is updated. And, apply 2021.3 update followed by 2021.3.4 update.

Please send in the crash report and send an email to me johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the crash better.
