Inventor can not access Electrical catalog browser

Hello All,

I am hoping someone can help me figure out what I am missing.  Every time I try to place a component for the electrical catalog browser I get the message below.  I checked and the electrical catalog library is where it is supposed to be.  I'm not sure what I am missing.  Hopefully someone can help.

Thank you,

Jovana

Maybe you just need to setup the link to the database file?

In addition to @mcgyvr information..  Do you have AutoCAD Electrical installed on your machine?

Yes, you need install AutoCAD Electrical or download the full default_cat.mdb, and then specify database manually in the Configure Database dialog in this case.

By default, install standalone Inventor with Electrical add-in will install a light default_cat.mdb (under ...\Autodesk\Inventor 2018\Bin\InventorElectrical folder) but it does not set it as the default Primary Electrical Catalog Database path, and this light database can't be used directly for placing electrical component. This is known issue in Inventor.

hi @Anonymous , @Anonymous ,

Yes, the error popup because the database is not set by default. We should fix it.

Have you tried download the default_cat.zip from my previous post, and configured it as primary database for catalog browser? Here is a short video for it: https://autode.sk/3qfWgMl.

Please let me know if you have problem still.

I've had similar observations. There's no 3D model existing for most of the Electrical browser contents.

Merry christmas, and thanks for hints.

Hi @Anonymous,

Yes, there are limited 3D models under Electrical Library folder (e.g. C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor Electrical Library 2021). User can create the 3d models by themselves and take them as library file.
