Inventor browser icons help

Hello to all,

I'm having a problem with a Project. It was obviously sent by Pack&Go, and now when I open it i get the Assembly, but i can neither open a part, or edit something. Then I noticed that the icons in the Browser are not the same as normaly (See Link below), but I've never seen such icons before. Can someone please tell me what this is, and how I set it back to normal, so I can work with it?

Hello @andelo523,

Please right click the node to bring up the context menu, select "Break Link" command to get back to normal. However, it will lost all the history. This is AnyCAD for Inventor technology to allow you open a future version file in current version. However, you can't edit the file directly, but you can add more feature on top of them.

You can check the file version in open dialog as below -

It's better to open the file in the same version of Inventor.

Hope it helps!

@Xun.Zhang, thank you for your reply!

It's indeed saved as Inventor 2019, and I'm using 2018.
I didn't know that there is something like AnyCAD, that's a valueable information.

So, the solution was to save it as an STEP File, and reload it back.
I lost all of the modeling history, but I can live with that for now.
For me it was important to open the single file for editing, since I'm not construction the Project,
but only supporting the constructor for solutions.

Anyways thanks a lot!

Hi! Another way to do is to leverage FutureCAD (AnyCAD) technology. You need to have 2018.3 update installed. Then, you can reference ipt or iam files saved in 2019 just as if they are from another CAD system.

When you move up to 2019, such part file will become a derived part linked to another 2019 ipt file. And, the iam file becomes a regular 2019 assembly file with a subassembly.

Many thanks!
