If I customize the command ribbon, i.e. setting Hole button big, re-arranging or hiding groups, sending commands to the expansion group, etc... next time I open Inventor all returns to default state

Using Inventor 2026.0.1

Hi!

These settings are stored in a xml file. When you change something, the new settings must be written in this file. Probably you don't have permissions to write in that folder.
Check if the folder where is the file has write permission, or is on "read only" mode.

You can also do this:
Create your changes and save (export) the settings file to your desktop.
Close Inventor.

Open Inventor and import the settings file you created.... and check the result.

Phew! Thought it was just me. You can see the XML file date change after the ribbon edits. Restarting Inventor will bump ribbon edits back to default. Other tweaks to the marking menu and keyboard will stick. Daily imports until patched...

@marco_celm ,

The file that stores your custom UI is usually here:

C:\Users\"YOUR USER"\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Inventor 2024\Preferences

I suggest to keep the original and create your own.

Tip: Usually appData is a hidden folder, you have to set your windows to show hidden files and folders.

@jason_bush:

I din't have any issue to tweak the syandard buttons size, etc, and keep those changes when close/restart Inventor.

Try the import button. It should open the default folder.

You are lucky. I import this file daily, sometimes multiple times a day...and it will update my customizations. However, the ribbon changes are not persistent. They will revert to default on a new session.

Hi! Indeed, the defect INVGEN-84894 has not been fixed in 2026.1.1 update. But based on the latest internal record, it has been fixed in the coming 2026.2 update (to be released in November).

Many thanks!
