Hi, were having a weird thing here happening with multiple machines, and setups.

I have tried searching for this problem but can't seem to find anything conclusive.

When your in a sketch,

klick on a surface the ''shortcut bar'' appears, making you able to klick:

edit feature, edit sketch, share sketch, make sketch visible, create sketch, create finish...

But if I'm zoomed a little out so that i can see the whole part, this shortcut always appear to the left side of the screen and ain't responsive. cant click on anything.

(A thing to note here is that the browser bar that you see on the left side of the picture here is on another screen)

I need to zoom into the part and then klick the surface again to be able to klick on the shortcut bar.

Then it appear more or less where the mouse cursor is.

But here's the kicker!

Sometimes it works just fine also, i can be zoomed out and seeing the whole part clicking the surface ant the shortcut bar appears with no problems.

I clicked off surface and on surface 4 times here and on the 5 time the shortcut bar jumped to the left side and became unresponsive.

This glitch or bug is not only limited to the sketch, it I'm in an assembly\part and to use the section view. it acts the same way.

(A thing to note here is that the browser bar that you see on the left side of the picture here is on another screen)

And if i zoom into the part (like way close) i am able to get it working after klikking it a couple of times.

Setup:

Multi Screen - 4x

Running inventor on one of the secondary screens. (Screen 2)

Having the browser bar and ilogic browser on primary monitor. (Screen 1)

Hope someone has a quick fix for this!🙄

Hi! This is probably related to the Qt UI framework scaling issue. Please try the following and see if it helps.

Go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment Variables -> create the following two variables (see prior discussion https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/cursor-and-marking-menu-are-far-appart/td-p/9136851).

  1. "QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR" as 0 or 1, which enables/disables automatic scaling.
  2. "QT_SCALE_FACTOR" as 1 or other values, which defines a scale factor for Qt windows.

Many thanks!

Hi, were a little unsure like how i were supposed to add them, so i added both. is this correct?

If so it made no difference on the problem. Added the variables and restarted the machine.

Added them to system variables, and not to user variables.

Hi! These are not system variables. They are environmental variables.

Yes, but after you klick on enviornment variables you get a new window up and the options to add, edith, delete variables, theres 2 plases, a system variable "table" and a user variable "table".

i tried adding to the system table. Dont know if i did it right though!

Hi! Either way should work. Then I guess it is not related to Qt. You may want to remove the environment variables.

Try going to Windows Display settings -> select the recommended resolution and scale. And right-click on Inventor desktop icon -> Properties -> Compatibility -> "Change High DPI settings" -> check both boxes.

Many thanks!

Hi again.

Got to test this out but no luck. I just checked all of our designer machines and 4 of 4 machines has this problem.

I think i figured out a solution to fix the problem! But i can't say why it is a problem!

First test i did.

Disable every screen except one! open inventor and it works perfectly.

Every time i klick a surface the ribbon appear right beside the mouse courser and is responsive.

Second test:

Enable all the screens again and test again. Problem is back, and back to square one!

Third test:

Check what is set to my MAIN DISPLAY, here i notice its the screen to my LEFT that's set as my main display. i'm i have the inventor open on my middle display.

I set my middle display as my main. the same display that inventor i running on!

And suddenly its working perfectly again!

I test dragging the inventor off the main display to the next display, and the problem is back.

I then test by dragging \ dethatching a part window from inventor, the inventor is running on the main display but i have a part window on one of my secondary's.

I now have the ribbon bug \ glitch on the part window that's off the main display screen,

but its working fine when i klick in my main inventor window that's on the main display.

I verified this on a second machine also, same behavior.

So my current fix \ solution to this problem is to have inventor running on your selected main display.

Don't know if Autodesk is aware of this problem.

Can someone please try to recreate this problem on your system and confirm if you get the same behavior ?

a couple of newly fresh systems up ang going, with biggest changes is windows 11, fresh new installations. the ''bug'' still present, you need to have inventor placed at the selected main display.

Doesn't anyone else have this problem?
