Inventor 2020 vs. Inventor Professional 2020

I've been looking for a comparison for Inventor 2020 to Inventor Professional 2020.  Does anyone have a chart that compares the two.  I'm really trying to determine what differences there are between the two so I can make an informed decision on which one to purchase.  Thanks in advance.

No need to worry about that..  You can no longer purchase or get a subscription to Inventor (standard).   Its all Inventor Pro now..

When I download Inventor Pro 2020 and create a deployment, it asks whether I want to choose Inventor 2020 or Inventor Professional 2020. What is the difference?

The installation of Inventor or Inventor Pro is a single installment product.   The switch tells which Inventor to install.  If you still have a carried over Inventor (standard) license then you select that option.   If you have a license for Inventor Pro then you pick that option.  Inventor (standard) doesn't have FEA, STRESS, TUBE & PIPE, CABLE AND HARDNESS...

Can the non-pro version open the pro-version's files? I am downloading for student use at home and the Pro version is at school. Worried files I create at school won't open at home. Will they?

Why aren't you installing the pro version? Your student license gives you pro..

Standard can open but you can't do any edits to any pro created features.

Hi! The file formats are the same. There is no difference between regular Inventor and Inventor Pro. The only difference is that Pro has certain workflows like Cable&Harness, Dynamic Simulation, Frame Generator, Stress Analysis, Tube&Pipe, and so on. You can still open the files saved with such data. But, you will not be able to edit the data except the assemblies, parts, and drawings.

Many thanks!

Hi, I'm having problems with downloading Autodesk inventor professional, whenever I download it, I always get 30 days trial instead of having a full one.

I ALWAYS install in 30-day trial mode and then run for at least a couple of weeks in trial mode.

Only after I am sure all is well do I click on Activate to activate my license.

So I'm not sure that I understand the issue. Are you not able to Activate your license.

Is Inventor running OK in trial mode?

The 30-day trial should be full Inventor Professional.

There is a misunderstanding here.

Do you have a Serial Number for Inventor Professional?

If yes, where did you purchase it, or is it a student license serial number.

Post screen shot of your Trial opening window where it shows how many days you have left in the trial.

Shift Win S  then Reply here and Ctrl V to paste image.

When I want to create an assembly and add a screw, my content center is empty.

Hi! This usually means a few things.

1) Content Center was not installed (or not installed properly). Please go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> check if "Autodesk Inventor Content Center Libraries 20xx" is there.

2) Content Center Add-In is not loaded. Go to Tools -> Add-Ins -> check if the CC add-in is listed.

3) The project file does not include the correct CC libraries. Go to Get Started -> Project -> click on Configure Content Center (the button on the right at the bottom) -> make sure the needed libraries are included.

Many thanks!

Hi @Anonymous,

You then need to run the Inventor installation media which contains the content centre - you can find the media at https://manage.autodesk.com/

Run the installer as admin and make sure content libraries are ticked.
