I don't typically use the Home screen, but I have a co-worker that does. In Inventor 2020, it is not working as expected for her. So, here is a 2-part question:
1) When clicking on the "Part" shortcut to create a new part, the units default to Millimeters despite having "Inches" selected. (The selection was made by clicking the gear icon on the "Advanced" bar.) What might cause this?
2) Is there a way to map this shortcut to a different Part template?
Personally, the only thing I use the home screen for is opening up files from the recent selection. And that is only if I just need to reference a file quickly with out checking it out.
If you have your templates directory setup up properly in the application options, what I show below will always work if you have your templates configured properly.
Windows 10 x64 -16GB Ram
Intel i7-6700 @ 3.41ghz
nVidia GTS 250 - 1 GB

Click on the Advanced bar (not on the "gear"). Now you can see what templates are available in your active project's designated templates location (which is presented just above the panel). Clicking on the Part button in the Basic panel simply uses "Standard.ipt" from that folder.
But the idea of everyone just using whatever template they happen to find is not a good workflow. Get your templates configured for your workplace (or specific client), put them in a common location (and name them "Standard", and make sure your projects point to that location. Encourage Home Screen users to use the Advanced panel instead of the Basic panel to choose their templates, which offers choices beyond the Standard names.

Hi! The only logical explanation I have to the behavior is that the template files in the active project are different than the template files in the default path. Where are the templates stored in the active project (Project -> Folder Options -> Templates)? Where is the default template path (Tools -> App Options -> File -> Templates)?
If you need to reset the default templates, you simply go to Tools -> App Options -> File -> Configure Default Templates and select the standard and unit.
Many thanks!
