Constraint Enhancement: New Setting to Control Axial Constraints

By default, when creating an axial constraint, Inventor tries to predict the best solution for creating the constraint. The new setting, Default to Undirected, allows you to permanently revert to the legacy behavior which was undirected by default.

@jletcher  That ones for you Sir.. 😁

Hello, i've just updated my inventor 2020 into 2020.2 (i havent installed any other update), but since the update i've had this issue with tube and pipes...

i've created custom content center pipes a few months ago and always populated that custom pipe... but since the update one of my custom pipes arent being populted, it just appears "Create run failed."... Since they are a copy from original ASME B36.10M pipe from inventor content center, i've tried to populate a unedited ASME B36.10M pipe and still appeared "Create run failed"... it seems i'm having this problem with this type of pipe, since i've tried the same with DIN 2462 Tube and successfully created.... All of my colleagues who didnt do the update are able to create pipes, only i who updated seems to be having this problem...

Does anyone have this problem? Or can anyone here try to create a pipe with ASME B36.10M pipe with version 2020.2? and tell me if it worked? so i can know if it is something on my inventor or the version

Since installing this update I can no longer copy sketch geometry from a pre-drawn sketch symbol and paste it in a sketch on top of a view. I do this to create a broken edge to crop the view. There is no  option under the right click and control+v doesn't work either.

Hi Eldorado,

The behavior does not sound right to me. Does it happen to specific files or any T&P assembly file?

Many thanks!

Hi! Regarding the Copy and Paste sketch in drawing, this is a good catch. I am not aware of the behavior. It does not look right. I am able to reproduce it. I will work with the project team to understand it better.

Many thanks!

Sorry for late reply, on the older TP assemblies that i created before installing update, it seems to be working fine....

but whenever i create a new TP assembly in a new a .iam file, for some reason the ASME36.10M pipe or any copy of it doesnt seem to work.. it just says failed to create run... but if i do it with another pipe it works fine...

i'm not sure if this error is due update or some file it messed up during its installation or something ive done wrong during the TP assembly creation,  thats why i needed someone to test creating a pipe and populate it so could find what am i missing

Hello @Anonymous,

Drawing sketch copy/paste is a regression from 2020.1 which has been confirmed as internal ticket INVGEN-35287.

Note: The ticket information is good for Autodesker to find the item and update status here.

Hi Eduardo,

do you have your own templates or use just default templates supplied by Inventor installation? I am asking you because I see no issue when I verify the issue you described here with default templates (TP styles).

1. I was able to populate route using the pipe ASME B 36.10 Threaded  (also non-threaded) in R 2020

2. I installed update R 2020.2 and also I was able to populate route using ASME B 36.10  (non-threaded as well)

3. Using CC Editor I made family copy, changed material, PartNumber, created new style using this copied family, no problem.

So basically, so far I see no issue with the update R 2020.2 from T&P perspective

Style using ASME B 36.10 not threaded

Not threaded styleNot threaded style

Style using modified family ASME B 36.10

Style using modified familyStyle using modified family

Let us know. Additional question, do you use Vault or any Data Management system?

Regards

I installed the 2020.2 update this morning and very quickly discovered that the Slice Graphics behavior changed slightly for the worse.  Slicing no longer works if the sketch is on an exterior surface that would not technically be cut by the slice.  I use SG a lot in that scenario because many of my parts are black and it makes the sketches easier to see when editing.

@jason_mcdonald , thanks for reporting and letting us know your case! This is actually caused by fixing another section view issue, we haven't been aware of the high usage of slicing graphics with exterior faces, we will reconsider the solution and reinvestigate how to make both issues  addressed nicely.

@Anonymous , thanks for reporting! This is an unknown issue to us.

Is that possible to share the dataset with us for investigation?

Hi Guys,

If possible, please post separate thread for each issue. Some may be related to 2020.2 but some may not be. It is making this thread confusing and hard to follow.

Regarding the PartsList/BOM QTY error, I suspect there is some sort of corruption in the BOM data. Try this real quick. Go to the assembly and open BOM table -> disable the BOM view (Structured or Part Only) -> enable the BOM view. The error should go away.

Many thanks!
