Inventor 2020.2 update issue

Since installing the 2020.2 update, several users have had issues using embeded spreasheets, whereby the model update function is not available if the spreadsheed is closed after saving changed.

Work around is to save the spreadsheet, update the model then close the spreadsheet.

Also, we use the Design Cloner program.

After update there is an issue where Cloner sees all files as the wrong version of Inventor.

After uninstalling the update, these issues are fixed.

Yes, we made an enhancement in this area to improve the performance. The key here more like no Update needed if there is no value changed in the spreadsheet no matter save or not.

Could you help recheck?

For example, you have d0 = 1mm in the spreadsheet link to the parameter and consumed in a feature, open the spreadsheet, make a change to 2mm and back to 1mm, save the spreadsheet, the value is not changed, right?

In this case, no update is need from 2020.2 but request to update in previous release.

In this way, Inventor look into the value to avoid unnecessary update.

From your description, it more like this case.

Please let me know more details in your workflow and a data to illustrate would be better.

Regarding Design Cloner, I have been emailing the developers and sending messages, but to no avail.

If anyone from Micrographics is reading this, "Please fix the Design Cloner"

Better yet, can Autodesk make one, we don't all have Vault. (Design Cloner is better than all the other provided cloning tools)

As mentioned, Cloner works as expected once we rolled back to update 2020.1.

You might want to try that.

IMHO he doesn't need to. It was working fine before the latest IV update. Probably since it's a free add on, he doesn't feel obliged to do anything.

@Anonymous, thanks for sharing the videos! We can understand the issue now, this seems to be a problem related with Embed excel, a bug is being tracked internally, which is INVGEN-35738. 

As you said, the workaround is without closing the Embed excel after editting and finish update in inventor first then close the file. 

We will investigate how to make a safe fix.

I thought I would update you regarding the "Design Cloner"

I have been in touch with Micrographics, and Autodesk have changed the API, this is causing some issues.  Micrographics are awaiting feedback from Autodesk in order to make changes to the Design Cloner application.

Sadly this does not look like it going to be quick fix.
