Inventor 2019 resolving file problem

Dear Mates,

I had a project with Inventor 2018 which I sent to our customer. They migrated it to 2019, worked with it and send it back, but they created a subfolder called "közös elemek", which is the common elements that they don't modified.

I've tried open an assembly they created and I've got the resolve file window. If I select the file it simply doesn't recognize it and give me back the same window for the same file. It shouldn't have been showed at all, so I really don't understand.

I attached an image which might make understandable my problem. If I double-click on 87161480.iam, the window disappears for a sec and shows me the same window with the same file. So, basically, nothing happens. I have migrated my original files. This isn't happened with the files they send me back, but I wanted to use my originals.

Any solution? Thanks,

Want to understand some things.

  • They migrated to 2019 but you have not.
  • The file it is trying to resolve, they created it after you sent the assembly file to them originally?
  • If they did, did they send the file back to you?
  • The folder you mention, is that a folder created in Windows Explorer, or internal to the assembly?

Windows 10 x64 -16GB Ram
Intel i7-6700 @ 3.41ghz
nVidia GTS 250 - 1 GB
Inventor Pro 2018

- they migrated their copy of the files

- I have migrated mine

- they sent those files back to me, but I want use my common files to avoid file duplication

- it is a normal folder on the SSD / HDD

I could use their files, but then my original main assemblies won't find them. It seems those files aren't the same anymore, for example, like they would have renamed them or something. The subfolder with hungarian characters might broken them, too.

NEVERMIND, I've communicated with them and they told me, they used STEP instead of native Inventor files, so it explains everything.

Hi Guys,

You could still leverage 2019 ipt and iam files in 2018 as reference files (like other non-native Inventor files). This is called FutureCAD workflow. You will need to install 2018.3 update to enable the ability.

Many thanks!
