inventor 2018 your trial has ended

I downloaded the trial version of inventor 2018 from the woodwork site.

On two different computers and three different accounts which I do not believe have use inventor before, I get an error saying "your trial has ended".  Is this potentially an issue with an out of date version of inventor?  I think I need to have inventor 2018 for the woodwork plugin to be used.  Any suggestions would be helpful.

I think what you downloaded must be an addin for Inventor, not Inventor itself.

I'm fairly certain it installed inventor.  The full text reads.

Your trial has ended

Subscribe for a month, a year, or for however long you need it. Inventor is great on its own, priced from just $240.00/month—but it's even better as part of an industry collection.

It might be where you've downloaded it from, it's likely some metadata that alot of companies use to stop you from using different accounts on the same machine, however I am still perplexed how this is happening across two machines

Are you seeing something like this https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/0-days... after launched it right after installing your product?

I'm not experienced with license issues, but I think, the license check is looking for the SN and it's first activation date.

I found a whileback I had a similar issue with sketchbook,

original post here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/solution-to-programs-not-launching-on-student-...

But essentially what i did was rename a folder and solved it. Some issues are really that simple

Ah HA!  It seems all I had to do was choose the activate with a serial number option, rather than attempting to sign in with my account.  then I chose "run" instead of activate.  Success!
