Inventor 2018 Missing Vault User Interface (i.e. side browser)

For some reason, my Inventor Professional 2018 lost the Vault user interface on the side where the model and iLogic user interfaces reside. It doesn't even show up in the dropdown list to choose any longer. I reinstalled Vault Basic 2018 Client and then Vault Professional 2018 Client. This did nothing to fix the problem. I even enabled and disabled the "Inventor Vault" in the add-in manager and that didn't fix the problem. Funny thing is that the Vault Ribbon tab is still where it should be and functions just fine.

Has anyone here had the same issue or know how to fix?

A couple of things..

Don't install Vault basic client and the paid version on the same machine.  Only install the client that's related to your Vault.  Have you checked to make sure your active Inventor project file is set to a Vault type?

OK So I :

  • uninstalled both Vault 2018 clients.
  • rebooted the computer.
  • reinstalled Vault 2018 Professional
  • rebooted the computer
  • opened Vault Professional 2018 client
  • verified my setup was correct and that I was logged into the vault server
  • opened Inventor Professional 2018
  • verified it was connected to the Vault Server

Still no change the feature is still missing.

This is weird for no reason, I was continuing to modify a drawing I was working on when it disappeared, and boom it just popped up and is working again. This is a serious issue with the Add-On. I lost a bit of time this morning trying to fix this and for no reason, it just appears.  Something is fishy here?  Man Frustrated

We have seen it here too.

I believe it is caused by this:

  1. open an idw
  2. open the assembly from the idw
  3. go back to the idw
  4. close the assembly by clicking on the 'x' on the tab at the bottom
  5. <vault browser disappears>

To get it back (I am going by memory here):

  1. open the assembly from the idw
  2. <vault browser reappears>

Yep I just duplicated your steps but with the part model (.ipt) file. At least now I know I'm not crazy. I appreciate the verification. Thank You!

Has this issue been fixed yet?

It's a pain when you can't use the option upon checking in for "Close files and delete working copies" because you still have to have the model open.

I know the work around but it's extra steps that I didn't have before.

We haven't had any issue with it since the 2018.3.2 update on our Windows 10 or Windows 7 workstations.

My colleague once had this issue too. He realized he had this on "My Home" page accidentally unticked that caused the same problem. When he ticked it back, the Vault Tab re-appeared.

Thank  you! This solved my problem. It appears the My Home option in Application Options>General Tab is connected to the Vault Panel.  Also need to have a Vault project active.
