Inventor 2018 IPT to DWG Slow Conversion, Hardware Resources Not Used

Hello,

When converting an a quite big object from IPT to DWG it takes a lot of time. ~3 hours.
Question is why almost none or the hardware resources are being used? Disk, CPU, GPU is barely utilized, only ram is at 60%. If RAM were bottleneck should't it go to 95-100%?

Or that's how it is supposed to work?
i7 8700, Some sort of SATA III SSD, 8GB RAM, GTX 1060 3GB

Hi! It is hard to tell if the behavior is reasonable without seeing the actual file to play around with. But, 8GB is the bare minimum RAM required to run Inventor. It would not be performant in any measure.

Is it possible to increase the RAM to at least 16GB ro 20GB? Another option you can consider is to use Task Scheduler to convert the file. Close Inventor and go to All Programs -> Autodesk -> Inventor Pro 2018 -> Tools -> Task Scheduler. Create an Export task and select the folder contains the ipt file -> set export file type to dwg.

This will run the export task without Inventor graphics window. It should consume less RAM. Please try it and see if it works better.

Many thanks!

I said it incorectly - it took 1 hour 7 min to complete, not 3 hours.

Sorry, but I can't really give a file to play around. It's company's property.

Added another 16GB RAM. 24GB in total. No change at all, ammount spent converting is still 1hour 7mins.

Can you share a part for others to test?

Was it a translated part, complex ipt or surface related?

alright, this is the file. 1 hour 7min to convert from IPT to DWG with specs listed above.

I'm mostly curiuos about utilisation of hardware. Is it going to be mostly idling with your machines as well.
