Inventor 2018 - Having Issue Placing a Component Inside of Assembly

Hello,

I am using Inventor 2018.  It's only been installed for a couple of months.  Before that, I had been using Inventor 2014.  I am trying to place component into my assembly, but when I do, the component is outlined in yellow dashed lines.  However, it will not physically place it into the assembly.  Then, I notice that it shows inside of the browser on the left.  I could place as many as I want and it never shows inside of the assembly.  The visibility is turned on, the part is enabled and not suppressed.  So, I decide to open the component (it opens fine) and an assembly that this component is originally used in (also opens with this component visible).  I try copying from that assembly and placing it into my assembly.  I'm having the same issue.  I create a new assembly.  I'm allowed to place the component into the new assembly.  I insert my assembly into the new assembly and manipulate the component inside of the browser to show being under my assembly.  It shows up, but when I right click over my assembly to open it, it's not there.

See attachments.  I've attached a view of the browser showing the component, the switch, and the overall assembly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dexter Cochran

It is a surface body.

Do you have visibility of surface bodies (Construction Surfaces) enabled?
