Inventor 2017 missing Stress Analysis

Anonymous
Not applicable

Spent 2 hours on priority support to find out why I cannot run Stress Analysis in Inventor 2017.  We have Product Design Suite Premium and the Addins list shows "Simulation: Stress Analysis" as "Automatic/Loaded" but it doesn't show on the Environments ribbon.

Support Tech had control of my system for 2 hours last Thursday and was stumped.  He uninstalled Mastercam and deleted lots of registry stuff and even folders that were installed as part of the Inventor installation.  The only change from default installation was my install location as the secondary hard drive location (E: drive) because I have an SSD for C:.

I uninstalled everything Autodesk this morning (Monday) and reinstalled the entire suite.  Still no luck!  I attached a screenshot.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Blaine

Hi!

If you have Product Design Suite Premium, the Inventor within the package is Inventor Standard.

To have FEA capability, you must have Inventor Professional, and that comes in the package Product Design Suite Ultimate.

You have the add in listed, but it will not be loaded.

In your image the first thing I notice is that it does not say Inventor Professional at the top of the screen - like this.

Response was only minutes ...  but actually only seconds to figure out the problem.

Yes I should have said.. "these guys here figured it out and responded in minutes after you posted" Smiley Wink

Checking for Pro vs Standard is the FIRST thing I look for.. not sure why "support" overlooked that simple fact.. Must not be in the "script"

Interesting that the addins shows Simulation:Stress Analysis in the list.. I would have expected it to not even show up at all.. Maybe thats an "issue" (bug) in 2017 standard.

I don't have 2016 standard Inventor to test..

Hi!

Your license is network or standalone?

If you have a network license, and you have a misc of Premium and Ultimate packages disponible, install in your machine a Ultimate version.

When you have ultimate disponible in the server, you will be able to use it, if there's no one available at the moment, you can always use the Premium package.

If is a standalone license version, forget, you will not have FEA analysis disponible with a premium package.

Thanks to everyone, especially Captain Obvious;).
The support tech had a great demeanor but obviously missed the simple problem that I was completely unaware of. Wish I knew that ultimate was necessary.
I'm sure my 2015 Inventor (jumped over 2016 even though I was on maintenance) had this on the Environments ribbon but now I'm second-guessing and can't go back and see.

Thanks everyone!

If you stayed on subscription you should still have it..

I can't remember the year (2013 maybe) Autodesk upgraded (for free) anyone that was on Inventor pro to the PDSU (ultimate suites).. Anyone with regular Inventor got upgraded to PDSP (premium).. So I suspect you've only been a standard Inventor customer..

No add-on. The new subscription models will allow you to "rent" whatever version you need.
If you need something new then you better contact you r regional rep and look into the new models because Autodesk isn't going to sell you anything for perpetual packages anymore.

Hello All,

I am having the same issue with Inventor Professional 2019.

When going to manage add-in, I see that Simulation: Stress Analysis is Automatic/Loader, but when I click it nothing happens.

Do all Autodesk Inventor Professional 2019 have access to this feature ?

Thank you

Did you try running the Inventor Reset Utility?

Did you install all Updates for 2019?

Were you running on two monitors?

Can you post some other screenshots?

Can you link Screencast.autodesk.com video?
