Inventor 2017 Feature Recognition Not Asking To Recognize Features

I have Inventor 2017 and downloaded the Feature Recognition add on. However when I go to Open -> CAD Import -> Select my STP file and then Inventor opens the file, I select ok to the default prompts for importing a CAD file and that's it. No where is it asking me to recognize the features of the STP file. I went to add in's in Inventor settings and it shows the Feature Recognizance add in as Automatic/Loaded so I'm not sure why it's not working.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Well it depends on if the information you imported is actually a solid..  It may be just surfaces..  Can you share the STEP file or an image of the Inventor Browser pane so we can see what the data is.

Thanks for the reply. Are the screenshots below what you are looking for? When I import the same part into Solidworks it has no trouble doing the feature recognition and it was all automatic on import after I selected yes. Is there something that I'm doing wrong in Autodesk? I feel like feature recognition should be a default feature and not some add in as it's causing trouble among users.

This drives me bananas in SolidWorks as I rarely need to run Feature Recognition when I import parts.

I prefer the Inventor behavior.

But just like in SolidWorks, in Inventor you can always right click on the base solid and invoke Feature Recognition.

Well I did right click the solid and select "recognize features", clicked automatic and then selected all features and faces and clicked apply. It then began to scan the part which took a little while and only seemed to recognize some smaller pieces of the part. It completely ignored larger pieces like the sides, top, and bottom panels which I thought was a bit odd.

Feature Recognition is only suitable for simple tasks.

It will never succeed with a more complicated model like in your screenshot.
