Inventor 2017 DXF to Inkscape

Hi I am working in Inventor 2017 and I would like to get my files to Inkscape.

When I export a surface from Inventor I get an error box (see picture) ..

If I open the DXF file in RDWorks, and then import it to Inventor I do no longer get the error box but I can not see the file anywhere in Inkscape, it is completely blank.. 

Please help

I just need to now if it is possible and how before making bigger projects in Inventor, because if it does not work then it would be waste of time 😉

It not Inventor's fault. Clearly there is something wrong with Inkscape's DXF importer. I don't think it's worked well since the .92 release. There are a number of things that you can do though. I'd recommend exporting/printing your dxf to pdf and bringing that into Inkscape. There is also a free competing 2D CAD application out there (we all know who it is) that will export directly to svg. I use that software as a bridge sometimes for my Inventor to Inkscape work.

It does unfortunately not work I either get some weird looking fat lines or same error as before

DXF was converted in Rhino to SVG - Vector option.

I tried exports from Rhino to WMF and AI too, but results seem to be worse

Fair enough, I was hoping for a free solution of the problem but it is good to know Rhino would work for it!

It depends on what you need: Scalable vector graphics, or raster images.

If a raster image is sufficient, give an export from Inventor to a PNG image a chance.
