Hello
Today I noticed that I cannot make Thread anymore.
I have Autodesk Inventor Simulation 2011 (64 bit)
Build 282, Release: 2011 SP1
Im working onthis version for a long time. I think the problem might be caused by last week windows update
I have Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1
I hade no problems before.
Now when I wanted to make a thread. I open the Hole window, and then trying to mark thread, but it seems like the window try to resize, and back again to previous size with normal hole selected.
The marking seems to work because when I marked conical thread upper options changed. Also when I mark transition hole, I see top pixels of letters beneath window boarder.
I attached photos.

Does your excel installation work correctly? Have you tried starting excel? It may be that the excel installation was damaged, or simply needs to be started up, in order for inventor to load it properly.
That would be my best guess in regards to why it doesn't work.
Otherwise, I don't know
It's a known issue after a windows office update.

Changing the registry key works well for me.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion XX.0\System\Preference\Part\UseExcelToReadthreadFile
Set the value to 1

Hello,
I have the same problem, when I tried solution with changing registry and uninstalling windows update KB4041681 the thread starts to work, but I can not make holes in hole creator. I have Autodesk Inventor Professional 2011 (64 bit) and Windows 7 Professional (64 bit).
Thank you in advance for the support
I am running windows 7 Professional with inventor 2011 with the same threading problem. uninstalling update KB4041681 solved the problem Thanks.
Go to the Windows Start menu, type in Run in the Search.
In the Run dialog box type in regedit, then select OK.
Browse to the following folder in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion1x.0\
System\Preferences\Part
Where x will depends on the version of Inventor you need to edit.
x=7 for Inventor 2013
x=6 for Inventor 2012
x=5 for Inventor 2011 etc.
In the Part folder edit the UseExcelToReadThreadFile entry. Change the default Value data from 0 to 1.
