INV 2026 Enhancements to Open and Save

Hi Inventor crew,

I just updated to INV2026 and it's looking nice, so compliments there...

There is one thing that I did immediately notice about the new Open and Save dialogue in combination with how we set up our project files.

In the Frequently Used Subfolders in Inventor 2024 we have a nice structured and nested dropdown style of our main library.

Because of the way the filepaths are entered, Inventor grouped underlying folders together in the same top folder.

In Inventor 2026, this seems to be gone, and every entry is listed as a separate line, making it very unstructured, because next to this, Inventor also seems to sort them alphabetically instead of in the order from the project file.

Is there any way to get the old behaviour back in INV2026?

with kind regards,

And a follow up to this... in the Create File Dialog there are no subfolders at all anymore

The same subfolders are present in the template folder of INV2026, but they aren't displayed.

I really don't want to drop ALL of the templates in 1 top folder since we have about 30-ish templates for different types of profiles with iLogic behind them, which are now all grouped together in a logical and structured way.

That's strange... I tried multiple times (also restarted), and the left pane remains empty.

I know it's looking at the right folder because if I use the new "Open Folder Location" button at the top, I get the folder with all the subfolders.

Could it be some (hidden) setting somewhere?

Okay, so I tried some more and found out what was causing the problem with the templates.

The TEMPLATES folder was a hidden folder (again, to keep things organised), with several visible folders underneath it.

However, it seems that if the main folder is "hidden", the left pane is simply empty.

Making it visible solved it.

😎

Nesting of the Frequently Used Subfolders is still an issue, though.

Can you verify if you see the same when the Default Project is active?
