INV 2024 What happened to radial dimensions?

I've been asked to find out what happened to the 'RADIUS' dimension option.

Shown below is the model centerline and the object lines. I want a radial dimension, NOT a 'linear' dimension:

I click the centerline, select my object line, shortcut menu, where is radius option?

this is what we have to do now:

select 'linear foreshortened'

then we have to hide lines and such

then we have to go back and manually add an R

labor intensive. mistake prone for obvious reasons.

is there some setting i'm oblivious to?

some options buried in document settings hidden by palates and tools?

Hi! Maybe the circular edge isn't really circular. It may be a spline edge. Please share the files here. I would like to understand the behavior better.

I don't recall ever seeing an option for Linear Radius (like Linear Diameter but showing half the value...).  Seems that it could be useful in some situations.  I've used Linear Diameter a number of times in the past twenty years, but never needed radius, I guess.

Should be like this, except half the value and with R in front instead of Ø:

You could create a new Dimension Style just for this purpose with the R prefix added, but I don't see a way for the style to automatically hide the 2nd arrowhead.  But this really should be an option in the Dimension Type sub-menu.

If you add it to the Inventor Ideas forum (or find one already created there), come back to this topic and post the link to it-- I'll definitely vote for it.

Johnsonshiue, That is a straight, 'parallel to center' line, actually a groove for a snap ring to fit into. That groove is broken up so not actually a complete diameter, thus its a radius for feature control purposes. 

sbix26 we have dimension styles that list ø, mm and every deviation in between ranging from ±.0001 to .050.

Just silly that this is even a thing....you figure clicking on an object centerline would trigger diameter or radius only. 'linear foreshortened'? If I selected parallel object lines sure...but a centerline?

We've got a new Intern here and my supervisor asked me to look into this because he felt silly telling the kid to do what appears 'a hack job dimension' LOL (aka what i do daily and not even think about)

Can you just dimension to the centerline and the edge, then use Linear Foreshortened? This gives the double arrows to indicate off drawing sheet. Then just add the "R"?  Just a thought.
