Inv 2020 - Frame Generator Reuse Failure

Hello.

I am trying to populate a member in an iam. Everything went well, until it didn't. When I got to one sketch entity, Inventor ghosted the member (see FG Ghost.jpg) as if everything was normal. When I clicked Apply, the error appeared (see FG Reuse Error.jpg). Recreating the sketch does nothing.

I know how to workaround this, but using FG is more efficient.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

TIA

Hi! Do these members have end treatments (notch or miter or trim/extend)? If yes, starting from 2020, the reused members need to have the exact end treatments. Otherwise, it will not work.

This is a change in behavior to avoid more problematic behaviors down the road.

Many thanks!

I'm not sure I am following you. If I am reusing the source member, then all new instances are exact copies, as in a pattern. Any new end treatments can only be applied to the source member, not an instance.

Hi! It was my understanding too. However, on 2019 and earlier, there was a workflow allowing you to add end treatment on reused members (not to the source). There are issues in the workflow, which is why it is blocked in 2020. Maybe we are not talking about the same thing here. Could you share an example (Inventor files) so we can look into it further?

Many thanks!
