Internal Threads Help

Hi,

I'm very new to Inventor. I'm going to have some proper training, but due to COVID, that hasn't happened yet, so I'm having to learn my way for now based on my SolidWorks knowledge.

I'm struggling with internal threads. I need to make an M33 x 1.5 internal thread. However, if I set the initial hole I want threaded to 33mm, Inventor uses that as an internal diameter for the M33 thread, not the external. I don't know why this is happening, as it has M33 x 1.5 as an option in the ISO thread list, but it's using the 33mm measurement in the wrong way (see drawing below)

I need to have a small, unthreaded 33mm area behind the threaded area (see below).

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome!

You're in the right place for expert help with Inventor.  Can you please let us know what version of Inventor you are using?  And, in a case like this, sharing the part file (if you can) might be helpful.  BTW, thanks for posting screen shots, those are also helpful.

Using the hole command, I created a simple block and placed a 33mm hole in it:

These are the dimensions I am seeing:

Welcome to the forum.

When you created the hole feature.  Did you use the hole command?  Because in that command is the option to create a threaded hole.
