Internal solver error.Inventor simulation problem

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hey!

I try to simulate an Crane-fundament in Inventor 2019, but I get an error called: "Internal solver error".  I think the problem could be something With that I use midsurface on my thin bodies and somehow it makes conflict With my constrains or contacts.

I have tried:
- To copy the simulation and deleted it before i run it again
- Delete everything and start over

- Use manual bonding on edges and faces.

- Just constrain the midsurfaces alone (not solid in the same constrain).

-changes mesh

Can any1 help me? Appreciate any help!
Thx!

Hello @Anonymous,

It sounds a bug to me, would you mind share a simple dataset to me for further investigation?

Thanks!

Yes it could be, have restarted the Whole computer several times too but nothing worked.
What kind of data? it is okei i send as screenshot?
I try to send as attachments too.  Please tellme if you could receive it.

Thx for looking into this!

An assembly must include parts.

Hello @Anonymous,

Please leverage Pack and Go and make a zip file and then upload here or send to me directly via xun.zhang@autodesk.com.

Btw this fundament is constructed on a ship, not that it changes the problem any way.

Several missing parts from your assembly.

Many parts interfering (I would either edit to remove interferences or combine them with a Derived Component).

Sketches unconstrained (this doesn't necessarily impact the analysis - but makes me wonder about the level of training/experience before going into an advanced topic).

Duplicate lines and arcs overtop of each other in sketch?

Missing Tangent constraint?

I also found a "bent" sheet metal part that does not have any bends?

I guess this doesn't matter if the parts were joined in a Derived Component.

Hi @Anonymous,

Seems Frame contents and some other files (ckkal32v4.fins, ckkal32v4.fsat, ckkal32v4.ftes, ckkal32v4.fwiz, ckkal32w0.fmsh, ckkal32w1.fres) are still missing.

However, I can reproduce the problem in my end.

Capture.PNG

This happens most commonly with Frame Generator datasets.

here is a workaround for the issue:
1) Launch the Assign Materials dialog in Stress Analysis
2) Ensure that all components listed have a valid material, or valid override material assigned to them
3) Re-solve and you should be able to generate results{color}

Alternately, you can suppress those non-participating components in an LoD (Level of Detail) other than Master, and choose the LoD in the Edit / Create Simulation dialog, model state tab. You can then copy / paste the loads & constraints to the new Simulation.

The reason is that although a component has no volume (such as a Frame Generator Skeleton, layout sketch part, etc.) the solver still thinks that they are participating in the simulation, and they have an invalid material.

The workaround should work for you, please give it a try.

Thanks!

Hey!
thanks for feedback @Xun.Zhang

I see all my material are With steel type: NVA , which they are suppose to be. You said some of the frames are kind of empty volume? in that case, how i know which one when they dont show up after i sheck my "assign"?
You can see at my print screen there are only valid materials. Are there something i have misunderstood?
