Intermitten Pattern

Is there a way to do an intermitten "pattern"?

I find myself time and time again wishing I could do this and I was never sure that the answer is that I can't. This was possible in SolidEdge and i thought maybe it might be in inventor.

Anyways..The idea is that a part or ob ject can be "patterned" along a curve or axis at pre-determined locations. In my example I use points constrained at various angles.

This would be more useful to me in assemblies, but the functionality within the part environment should work the same way.

Is there a way to pattern this cylinder along the arc and have it go to the specified points? or Is this something that would need added to the IdeaStation?

Is there another way to work around this without recreating the part each time? (this is a simplified example, its often more complex than this and at times requires a lot of time to recreate each instance)

Some examples attached

I notice a small gap where the extruded cylinder meets the Revolved feature - before I propose a solution, I assume that gap is not intentional?

Hi!

No, it's not possible in inventor, but is a good issue to place in the Idea Station... go ahead, i vote for this.

It was just a quick model I made for example only JD

I know better than that. Smiley Wink

but if what Carlos says is true, and I have no reason not to believe him, I guess I'll move it to the ideastation

Well, I use Punch Tool to place a lot of features that definitely aren't punches.

For searching purposes, and if you're going to create an Inventor IdeaStation post, the word you want is "intermittent", with a 't' on the end.
