incorrect parameter value??

I am trying to insert a parameter name (d1) into the equation field of
another parameter (d13).

The value (d1) is showing up 2.54 times larger when inserted into this
equation field.

This parameter (d13) has a "ul" unit designation. Is this "ul" designation
causing the problem? Why are parameters being multiplied be 2.54 when
inserted into the equation??

Are you working in both English and Metric? 2.54 is a conversion factor
number as is .03937.

I haven't seen this problem, but it sure sounds like it's trying to get an
inch value from a metric? Are both parameters using the same units?

It appears my inch value is being converted to centimeters, but I can't
figure why. I am working in inches. The unit designation for the problem
parameter is "ul".

Try entering "d1 / 1 in" or "isolate(d1;ul;in)" for the value in d13.

Strange. Better call your VAR and tellem it's broken and you want free beer
to compensate for your pain and suffering.

Was this part ever metric? Can you duplicate this in another part? If it's
not proprietary post it to CF and I'll take a look.

The base unit of Inventor is centimeters hence the 2.54 coversion. You need
to make the function that has d1 in it come out as ul. If the units don't
match you get weird numbers.

A few ways to skin the cat but one way is to use the isolate function:

isolate(d1:ul:in) assuming that d1 is in units of inches

another is

d1/ in (again assuming that d1 is in inches)

when you use mixed units (ul and in) you get into all sorts of hairy
problems...

BTW ul stands for unitless
