Including machining, welding into assembly level of detail

I have an assembly with some parts welded on to it (it's basically just a weldment) and some machining.
I need to create drawing views of the welment as is, and with some of the components/assembly features suppressed.
I can save to a level of detail (e.g. 'brackets removed') by supressing the brackets, but I can't suppress the weld feature permanently from a level of detail.

Any help, much appreciated.

When you place your base view you'll select your model state.

If you then click onto the model tab, you can select the various weldment states.

Selecting Assembly will show it without welds.

Is this what you were after?

Thanks Dave, that kind of works because I can use a machining detail to chomp through the welds. Fortunately it's a very simplw structure, but if it was more complicated I'd have to use more machining details, plus if there were several different machining features and I only wanted to hide one of them, i don't hink it would work.
As it is your solution has got me out of a (non-machined) hole I found myself in, so thank you.
