Importing IGES/STEP into Inventor from AutoCad

Hi,

I have a customer sending me a pretty large AutoCad file that I am trying to import into inventor. Although the CAD file works fine for me, when exporting it as STEP or IGES not all the model opens in Inventor.

When I look at the Transfer Report (attached here) it says there's a warning as parts have been simplified.

Is there anything I can do or my customer can do to ensure that these all come in without this warning and I can open them up in Inventor.

Not sure where you are coming from stating he is sending you a large AutoCAD file.  All I see are Inventor models.  I would suggest requesting he does a pack and go of the assembly and send it on a thumb drive or a drop box account.

Why are you exporting anything as STEP or IGES?

From which program are you exporting?  AutoCAD or Inventor?

Hi! This sounds like a geometry specific issue. How large does the model measure in AutoCAD? If IGES/STEP does not work, you can use ACISOUT command and export the file as SAT and import it to Inventor. Or, you can simply import the dwg file in Inventor.

Hello, when you talk about geometry issues, does it mean that Inventor has issues with large coordinate numbers as in georeferenced 3d models?.
