Importing an assembly with parts from multiple folders

I am trying to import a non native assembly into Inventor. The assembly and part files are .prt files from NX and are stored in multiple folders on our server. I can move the parts into a single folder along with the assembly and it will open fine, but Inventor can't seem to find the parts in a different folder. I only need to go up one level in the folder hierarchy to encompass all assembly components but I can't find that option when trying to open or convert the assembly. It is unable to find the parts so it opens an empty assembly then a web page with the Inventor Translation Report showing that the assembly components were not found.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

For non native Inventor files, I would suggest copying/moving all the NX files for this assembly into a single folder. You might try creating a new IPN file for this application which has all the folder paths for the NX files.

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

To me it sounds like you don't have a properly configured Inventor Project File.

Add to the Workgroup Search Path in your activate project file.
