iAssembly parts list w/ iParts

Hello,

For an iAssembly containing an iPart - I have a parts list on the drawing for an iAssembly configuration called - "Member=1," which lists the correct ipart called "ipart=1" for that iAssembly when Member=1 is active in the iAssembly model browser. For the ipart, I'm using the "Table Replace" function in the Assembly Author.

Changing the configuration in the iAssembly model to Member=2 changes the ipart to ipart=2, as expected. Unfortunately, the part list in the drawing for Member=1 changes to ipart=2 as well.  This is despite the "Select Member" option (while editing the parts list) being checked for Member=1.

I'm sure I'm missing something here, but why doesn't the drawing part list track the selected iAssembly member BOM?

All suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks!

Hi @phammond

I think the issue your seeing is the standard behavior of Inventor when detailing an iAssembly factory file in the drawing. You need to manually sync the part list member with the member visible in the view. Other wise you will see a mismatch like what your explaining. Is that correct?  If you had this iAssembly member in another assembly and were detailing that assembly then the parts list will always follow the member visible in the view.

Hi  A.Acheson,

Thanks for your advice.

I checked the manual select boxes, and everything seemed in order.  But, the problem persists. Here's an illustration.

There are three members of an iAssembly, each corresponding to a member of a 3-member ipart. With the first member active in the iAssembly the drawing part list for that assembly matches the BOM in the iAssembly.  But, when activating the second member in the iAssembly the part list for the 1st member changes to show a zero qty for the second member ipart. The correct ipart disappears from the parts list, but not the model in the drawing view.

The files are attached for any interested.

Thanks for your help.

Hi @phammond

So from what your saying the view isn't updating to match the member change? Are the views associative? Can you share the screenshot of the view setup page?

Here's the iAssembly.  Assembly1-01 is selected, and the parts list in the drawing shows the ipart (ipart01) correctly.

When I activate Assembly1-02, the correct ipart (ipart02) shows in the assembly model, but the drawing part list for Assembly1-01 changes the ipart callout to ipart02, despite the Member in the drawing view selected for Assembly1-01.

So, for some reason, the parts list is not maintaining its relationship with the drawing view but rather with the iAssembly selected Member.

Different factory settings and associative views make no difference.

Thanks!

Hi! I believe this is a known issue in iAssembly PartsList workflow. It was reported as INVGEN-66590, INVGEN-68732, and INVGEN-70333. It has been fixed on internal builds targeting 2024.3 update.

Many thanks!
