I assembly and ipt make components

Hi, I am fairly new to inventor and I have a query.

I have created a assembly from an multi body ipt by using the make components function. I want to turn this assembly into a i assembly with 8 variations. I have a user parameter set up in the ipt.

The problem I am having is each i assembly variation is being driven by the original ipt and do not maintain the dimensions I require in each variation.

Is there a way to drive each i assembly individually without having to create 8 different ipt files and making component 8 times.

Unfortunately you cannot make an iAssembly directly with make component to assembly work flow. This is due to the parts being derived with the link back to master sketch In the .ipt file.

Perhaps you might be able to use a different derive  functionality or just skip the make component element and use iParts within the assembly environment with constraints.

Can you provide simple examples of your parts /assemblies with some pictures also.

Hi Simon,

You need to use Model States in Inventor 2022. On Inventor 2021 and earlier, each ipt only has one geometric definition. If you need more definitions, you need more ipt files.
