How to to add a part into BOM but not to show it assembly model/drawing?

Hello,

I have assembly where are two different parts for same purpose (sealing). But in the assembly model is used only one type. Second type is spare part and I want to be part of the BOM.

Yes, in case of purchased items, is easy to add virtual component, but these sealing is custom and have its own model and drawing.

I want this drawing to be somehow linked to assembly (show it in BOM and pack *.ipt when packing assembly by Pack&Go).

How to do it?

Thanks for advice.

What about creating an ipart from the first part?  Or place both parts in the assembly drawing and turn off the visibility of the second.  This way they would both appear in the BOM.

From help page:

"A virtual component is a component that requires no modeling of geometry and no file. "

From my original post:

So I'm clear, you don't want to use virtual components but want the BOM/ pack and go to update?  Could you have both components in an assy, turn off one for the drawing, but have a duplicate view off the sheet in order to read the BOM?

Yes, I read it. But when I read it, it said:

It is called a Virtual part. No geometry, yet appears in the BOM.

iPart could be sometime solution, unfortunatelly this time not.

Switch off visibility for component in an assembly and also in drawing is my actual approach.

It works, but I'm  manually switching off visibility for every  occurence of this componenet in every drawing view separately.

So  is possible to set this component to be not visible in every drawing view in one step?

You do it like this or similar..

Note: Only 1 "sealing ring" required per assembly. The second should be placed in the spare parts kit.

Yes, basicaly I want to one of assembly components to be invisible in the assembly and also in the drawing.

In fact, it's lot of drawing views and part occurences.

Is there some quick way how to make them all invisible in all views?

Create a design view representation in the assembly and turn visibility of those parts off..

Any drawing view created using that view rep will not show those parts.. But they will still show in the parts list

If you don't want them to show in both the drawing view and parts list then set them as reference. reference parts can be turned off in drawing views through the base view dialog box (model state tab)
