How to set cordimations to zero on at existing sketch

Hey.
How do I set both coordinates to zero when I start a new line on an existing sketch

Example: If I place the cursor in the corner that an existing sketch, (no. 1 on the image), displays the coordinates of this whole "Plane", but my wish is to be able to get "0.000 mm" ( no.2 on the picture) so I have more control over where on the existing sketch I start on a new line.

I don't think you are using Inventor correctly.

Are you attempting to use techniques from some other software in Inventor?

There is only one 0,0,0.

I recommend that you Attach your Inventor file here - I see other issues as well.

When in a sketch go to the "Constrain" section of the Sketch tab and hit the dropdown to select "edit coordinate system".

From there you can change the origin,etc.. for that sketch.

This does require an existing "feature" (vertex,etc...) to relocate that point though..

Take a look at Move command for Sketch.

You can select everything and move a select point to origin or any other point in the sketch.

Hi! I agree with experts' comments here. Parametric sketch is less about absolute position of given geometry. It is more about relative. The dimensions and constraints drive the shape change.

But, you can still do what you want to do with a little bit effort. To reset the coordinate, you need to use Edit Coordinate System command. Here is what you need to do.

1) Finish the sketch.

2) Move End of Part bar to above the sketch.

3) Go to Work Features panel -> click on UCS -> enter the desirable coordinates to the origin of the UCS.

4) Move End of Part bar to the bottom.

5) Right-click on the sketch -> Edit Coordinate System -> pick UCS origin -> right-click -> Ok.

Now the sketch origin will start from the UCS origin.

Many thanks!
