How To Model Complex Shape

Hi, I'm trying to model the base of a table which has a tapering circular base but the centre point of the post is off centre. I was going to just create the shape with the post in the centre and then use direct edit to drag the relevant faces off centre but this isn't working. I can't seem to get loft or sweep to work either. Can anyone give me some guidance on how to create this shape?

Hi!

First, the file on the image is missing... upload it.

Your goal is to replicate the geometry signed in the image?

...Anyway...

Forget Direct tool to achieve that.

Some Loft with the rigth sketches will be the solution:
A quick example:

Thanks CCarreiras, the elliptical shape is the original shape, I needed to create a similar part but it needed to be circular, not elliptical. I did try the loft method but couldn't get it to work so I will take a look at your sample with great interest. I managed to achieve the shape by creating patches from the sketches and then using the split tool to remove the unwanted section - screen shots attached. Thanks for taking the time to respond so promptly.

Well, if it is circular, is even simple... i don't understand why all those patches and lofts...

Why not a simple revolve?!

A revolve would indeed be very simple, unfortunately the axis is off centre and there are three different shapes that need to follow through.

I mean... a simple revolve to be the base... then, create some guide lines, and loft:

I don't see any particular hardships in creating the required model. Here is a sample in IV2020 format.

Cheers,

Igor.

Hi Mick,

I must be oversimplifying the issue. I am wondering if Revolve and Non-Uniform Scale may help. Just Revolve the shape as a new solid body. Then use Direct Edit -> Body -> Scale -> select the body -> Non-Uniform -> keep Z scale factor at 1.0 but change X and Y factors accordingly.

Many thanks!
