How to make a 3D cubical fillet on the corner of a subject.

I had like to round off the sharp corner of a machine part but am not able to do it in Inventor. Seems simple, but not for me.

Is there a specific way and/or cmd for it, or are there only workarounds?

Included screen dump of what I want to do and what not.

Certain dies are also rounded on the way I want, others not.

Also .ipt file.

Thanks for any help.

Hi @Leo.Aerts

In the Fillet tool there is an option to create "Setback" fillets

Thanks,

Seems to work acceptable on one corner, but as the constant radius may not be 0, I am not yet able to round one other corner. ipt in attachment.

Hi @Leo.Aerts

Try selecting all of the edges in the same fillet feature and then adding multiple vertices as shown.

I hope this helps.

Here's an alternative, not so steep at the top of the fillet.

Hallo Curtis,

Thanks a lot, with a little wandering about I could manage. Formidable! And basically not complicated.

I add my results. For me it's perfect!

Hallo Walter,

Ich danke Ihnen auch herzlich.

Tomorrow I will study your solution as there are several features which I never knew but also want to learn, to deepen my future understanding of the Inventor program....

Btw: Have you heard of the GROB Hausmesse in Mindelsheim? I took a week of for it and stay 3 days.

@Leo.Aerts

The modeling technique of your part could be significantly simplified.

Notice that in my Sketch1 there are no duplicated dimensions.

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for your attribution.

A bit ashamed, I must admit that it took me a few days before I understood the meaning of your attachment.

Enlightning today teached me much more as only the technology, but more the stylistic way of working without unnecesary work arounds. That also what I learned today.

With more hope to reach ever an acceptable level,

Leo
