How to insert image in Autodesk Inventor

I cannot insert an image in Autodesk Inventor 2018. I started a 2D sketch and the "insert image" button was greyed out. I inserted an object but it only shows up in the sidebar as a link. I want an image on a 2D sketch that I can trace. Everything online says to do what I already tried, and they do not work.

Are you in a part file or are you in a drawing file?

Can you use the Windows Snipping tool and post some screen shots of what you see?

I am making a part file. Should I start with a drawing file first, then
turn that into a part file?

The best way I've found to work around this issue was to create a sketch symbol, then drop the image into the sketch symbol. You will need to get the size right the first time, but otherwise it works wonderfully. I know it is quite frustrating that it doesn't seem to work anywhere else, but this is the work around I have found. I'll try and upload a screencast here in a bit

Your screen capture shows that you are making an assembly file, not a part file.

Start a new Part file or start a new part within the assembly.

Thank you! I guess I just habitually used assembly files until now. I'll be more careful.
