how to extrude a circular Pattern on a curved side Surface

Hi

I am looking if someone can tell me the instructions:

-I am working on a coin redesign concept

-I want to paste an extruded circular pattern of the dollar Sign Symbol around the curved side surface of a random coin.

-I have looked everywhere but can not find the right solutions

Could somebody help me how i can achieve this.

I would make that with Sketch.

You did Extrude or Sweep the original geometry mid-plane, correct?

If you can't figure it out - Attach your *.ipt file here.

Is it supposed to be that small?

Also, you appear to be working in mm, but the document is set to inches?

no actually not the size not the problem at all, you can scale it up.  i was more interested in how to obtain the result of having a dollar sign patterned on the side curved surface.

Yes this is just a rought sketch file to experiment with some obstacles to solve like this dillemma i am facing at the moment.

Is this what you want?

Or do you not want the dollars stretched over the bend?

(perpendicular to the curve)

I would have dimensions on Sketch1.

I would have done the extrusion mid-plane (symmetrical) rather than one side.

I would have probably done as one extrusion rather than as two extrusions.

Based on my experience I would have expected two different fillet sizes for uniform thickness to the bend.

Yes this is exactly what i am trying to reach, the dollar sign should be no space between them, so that they touch each other, and als on the filet the dollar sign should not stretch out too much but should have the normal size like the other dollar signs.

This is how I did that:

To not stretch them is harder unless JDMather has a better way of doing it.

Would there be a better way to ahieve this result, because the dollar sign i want to paste on the part like the example is already created so bending would be not be posible

Idea:

Would it be possible to merge the faces to 1 face then the circular pattern would be easy to use i think?

Hi! I think James' Bend Part approach is probably your best bet. Please share the dollar sign you made so forum experts can take a further look.

Many thanks!
