Hi

I intent to use edges in Form mode as a path. After that I will use Sweep tool to model Pipe.

How can I extract edges in Form model?

Thank

Travis

Hi @travis.designer.vn,

Can you upload your part file(s)?

Hi Travis,

I assume you are talking about Free Form. In the environment, the geometry is not parametric. The Brep body is converted after you finish the edit. To get "edges" you will need to create workplanes and split or intersect the converted body.

Many thanks!

Hi @johnsonshiue @leowarren34

I come from Fusion 360 feature.

1/ select edges like this:

2/ use Pipe feature in Form mode

I'm finding similar feature in Inventor

Hi @travis.designer.vn,

Create a plane in the form environment and line up with the edge you extract, make sure Autosize is ticked.

Then exit of the form environment and start a sketch, use project cut edges (under project geometry).

Here's what you should see when you have created the plane, I can create a quick screencast if that would help.

Hi @leowarren34

I also think about it.

Are there Pipe feature in Inventor? Can we apply in this case?

Thank

Hi @travis.designer.vn,

Unfortunately, there isn't a pipe feature in Inventor that works in the same way as Fusion.

Instead, you need to get the edge as shown above and then sweep a circular profile along thee edge to generate your pipe.

Hi Admin;

Why did you mark as Solution?

Create Plane and Project Cut Edge, It's not general method. For example the case below:

Solved: Re: How to extract edges from Form mode? - Autodesk Community - Fusion 360

I think you should not do it when We're finding general method for complex model in Form mode.

Thank

As others have noted, there is no tool in Inventor Freeform mode to extract an edge.  Exiting Freeform mode, though, you can create a 3D sketch and include edges from the Freeform shape.  This is probably not directly doing what you need, but better than nothing, perhaps?

Hi @SBix26

I just think If It's not general method, we just leave it Pending. May be Development Team will look and build new feature.

Thank
