How to emboss text across multiple faces?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,  I am new to Inventor and having an issue trying Emboss across multiple faces.   I can get it to wrap my text on one face, but not three.

I have tried creating a work plane, and it all works as it should except when I go to actually apply the Emboss.  It only allows me to select on face to wrap to.

I tried to share the sketch and then apply to each face.  It almost worked except for the middle face.

Please Help.

I see under constrained sketch in you browser?

Are your faces tangent continuous?

Can you attach your *.ipt file here?

Hi! This is indeed a limitation. Emboss -> Wrap to Face can only operate on one face (planar or cone). It cannot be multiple faces. You will need to break up the text profile and wrap to the corresponding faces.

Many thanks!

Can we combine the faces and make a single face to wrap?

A plane is a plane

a cylinder is a cylinder

a cone is a cone.

Any two (or three) cannot be combined to get a plane, cylinder or cone.

Greetings @Anonymous I see that you are visiting as a new member to the Inventor Forum.
Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Since the shape is not super complex just create a Sketch for the first few letters, another for the middle few, and the remaining letters on the third. Emboss them individually.

Attached is a 2018 part, if you're using a previous version let me know. In the future add a Custom Tag with what release you're using at the bottom.

You can try the method @Thomas_Savage shared but that is really for complex surfaces and breaks any link to the text and seems unnecessary based on the image you attached.

Of course!  But you aren't old enough to know the reference?

Thanks a bunch,

That worked a lot easier than creating new planes and wrap to text etc.

I can't wait to get proficient using this application. It seems to be very
powerful.

My version is build 112 Release 2018
