How to delete interference (overlapping) material in an assembly?

Hi

I want to delete sections of my part which interfer with each other but I get an error message.

I do the following steps:

     1. first compile the assembly from the two parts ('header pipe' and 'AIV branch') and constrain

     2. run an 'Analyse Interference' check and found that there is a small interference (see below):

     3. In assembly I double click on the 'header pipe' part

     4. I 'copy part' for the 'AIV branch'

     5. I use 'scuplt' commands, but it produced the following error:

Can you advise what I am doing wrong?

I simply want to delete any overlapping material.

Thanks

Danny

Here is a Derived Component technique (open the pipe and examine).

Multi-body solids technique probably would have been even easier.

Shouldn't there be clearance between the parts to allow for manufacturing tolerances?

Hi

Can you run me through the technique you used or give me a link?

Did you need to cut off material from the 'header pipe' or the 'AIV branch'? I need the branch to remain unaltered.

In regard to tolerances, I am using this model for FEA on another program.
